We recently welcomed four international football teams to the Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel for the Elite Round of the UEFA Under-17 Championship, held in various parts of Greater Glasgow.
Our venue was perfectly situated for the youth teams for each of their three matches held in Glasgow, Greenock and Paisley during a week-long period.
The international squads from Scotland, Portugal, Russia and Poland featured young stars who play regular football for world renowned clubs such as Manchester United, Celtic, Monaco, Benfica, AS Roma, Rangers, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Legia Warsaw, and all were a delight to have as guests.
The brief was challenging as each team had different training and kick-off times, which meant different meal times, but our dedicated staff delivered the requirements, including specialist menus.
Our dedication to detail and fantastic resources and planning ensured every team had the perfect preparation to allow them to concentrate on what was important – performing to the highest level on the pitch.
Liz Robertson of the Scottish Football Association provided feedback on how we delivered a first class environment and service to suit the needs of players and coaching staff from four very different cultures.
What were the main requirements of your event?
To ensure that all four football teams had an enjoyable and problem-free stay at the hotel as they were all competing to reach the Finals of a UEFA Tournament.
What aspect of the stay was most important to you?
We wanted comfortable beds, good food and the provision of meeting rooms, kit rooms and treatment rooms as these are very important in preparing players for matchdays.
What made you decide to choose the Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel?
Upon meeting the Event Managers, I was confident that they would ensure that everything would run smooth for each team and it was important for us as the host representatives to ensure guests from other countries had an enjoyable stay, as this would also help enhance the reputation of Scotland as a whole.
Which facilities did you use when you were here?
I believe the teams used the gym and swimming pool facilities to help them relax and stay on top of fitness. We also used the large auditorium for a joint meeting about upcoming matches.
Thoughts on the hotel team and the level of support?
Without hesitation, I would give the hotel repeat business as they coped admirably with all four teams and nothing was too much trouble.
Any final comments about your event experience?
Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and helpful and I knew I was in safe hands from my initial meeting with Kirsten and Joanne.
